When a gas turbine manufacturer faced critical failures in engine rings operating above 600°C, the solution wasn’t another round of expensive maintenance but a shift to Nimonic 901 Round Bars. Developed for elevated temperature applications, Nimonic 901 is now the preferred choice for procurement teams and engineers across oil & gas, marine, power, pharma, and chemical sectors, offering certified supply, verified stats, and lifecycle benefits few alloys can match.

Nimonic 901 (UNS N09901, Werkstoff 2.4662, AMS 5660/5661, AMS 5660 / 5661) is an age-hardenable nickel-iron-chromium superalloy with substantial molybdenum, titanium, and aluminum. It is valued for ultimate yield strength, toughness, creep resistance up to 600°C, and excellent corrosion protection in jet engine, refinery, turbine, and marine settings. Its structure, reinforced by Ti and Al, delivers predictable hardening and stress resistance where other alloys fade.

Available in round bars from 5 to 200mm diameter, each batch is supplied to AMS 5660 / 5661, DIN and ISO standards with full MTC documentation for vital traceability. Providers of Nimonic 901 Round Bars and Inconel 718 Round Bars offer rapid global supply, certified packaging, and customized sizes for urgent projects and plant shutdowns.

Applications & Benefits

Why this grade

Nimonic 901 substitutes a large iron fraction for nickel and is age-hardened with titanium, which makes it materially cheaper than the fully nickel-base grades. It is a forging alloy for turbine discs, shafts and rings running to around 600°C, where the higher-temperature capability of 90 or 105 would simply go unused.

  • Chemical: gas reaction rings, furnace tubes, refinery seals.
  • Marine: shaft seals, engine disc rings, corrosion-exposed fasteners.
  • Oil & Gas: turbine engine discs, casing, shafts.
  • Pharma: process plant springs, sterilizer valve bars.
  • Power Generation: generator rings, steam turbine casings, high-temperature bolting.
  • Hardware/OEM: custom nonmagnetic fasteners, high-strength round rods.
