Titanium Grade 11

Titanium Grade 11 (UNS R52250) is commercially pure titanium carrying 0.12-0.25% palladium. The palladium is what the grade is bought for: it lifts resistance to crevice attack and to reducing acids — hydrochloric, sulphuric and phosphoric — in which unalloyed titanium is vulnerable. Its oxygen and iron limits are those of Grade 1, so it keeps that grade's low strength and high formability rather than trading them away for the corrosion performance.

Key Properties

• Palladium-stabilised. 0.12-0.25% Pd is the only intentional addition to an otherwise commercially pure composition.
• Crevice corrosion resistance in reducing acids and hot chlorides, the service in which unalloyed Grades 1 and 2 are attacked.
• Grade 1 base chemistry. Oxygen to 0.18% and iron to 0.20%, so it is the most formable of the palladium-bearing grades.
• Grade 7 is the stronger alternative — the same palladium addition on a Grade 2 base, where strength matters more than forming.
