How We Verify Material Before It Ships

Every consignment is checked against its mill certificate on arrival, not on despatch. That means reading the markings rolled or stamped into the material, confirming the alloy with a handheld analyser, and photographing both before the material is cut. The images below are from stock we have actually handled.

Registrations You Can Verify

Mill Markings and Traceability

Material arrives marked by the producing mill with the specification, the dimensions and a heat number. That heat number is what ties the plate in front of you to the EN 10204 3.1 certificate issued with it — if the two do not agree, the material does not enter our stock.

VDM Alloy 602 CA, 8 mm Marked 2.4633 / UNS N06025 to DIN 17742–17750, DIN EN 10302 and ASTM B / ASME SB 168, in the hot-rolled, annealed and scaled condition.
Alloy 600 sheet edge marked SB-168 UNS N06600, 3.0 x 1524 x 6000, by Nippon Yakin Kogyo
Alloy 600, 3.0 × 1524 × 6000 mm SB-168 UNS N06600, rolled by Nippon Yakin Kogyo, heat 31001.
Incoloy 800H plate, 6 mm, hand-marked I-800H with our cut size 6 x 2018 x 6020, beside the mill's stencilled order and lot numbers
Incoloy® 800H, 6 mm Dual certified to UNS N08800 / 1.4876 and UNS N08810 / 1.4958, carrying the mill’s own order and lot numbers alongside our cut dimensions.

Positive Material Identification

Incoming nickel alloy is checked with a handheld X-ray fluorescence analyser before it is released to stock. The readings below were taken on two Alloy 600 plates from heat 31001 and are reproduced exactly as the instrument reported them, including its stated uncertainty.

Handheld XRF analyser resting on an Alloy 600 plate beside its rolled marking
PMI against the marking The analyser is read beside the rolled marking so the test and the identity of the plate appear in one frame.
XRF readout on 6 mm Alloy 600 showing nickel 73.59, chromium 16.04 and iron 9.65 percent
6.0 mm plate Ni 73.59, Cr 16.04, Fe 9.65 — within ASTM B168 limits for UNS N06600.
XRF readout on 4 mm Alloy 600 showing nickel 73.75, chromium 15.85 and iron 9.76 percent
4.0 mm plate Ni 73.75, Cr 15.85, Fe 9.76 — same heat, second thickness.

What this test does and does not show. Handheld XRF confirms the grade and the major alloying elements. It cannot read carbon, sulphur, boron or the other light elements, so it complements the mill’s wet-chemistry analysis rather than replacing it. Every order ships with the mill’s EN 10204 3.1 certificate; the PMI check is how we satisfy ourselves that the certificate belongs to the metal.

Export Packing

Material is wrapped, edge-protected and crated in ISPM 15 treated timber before it leaves us, with the packing list fixed to the case and heat numbers on every label.

Crated nickel alloy sheets strapped inside a truck, wrapped in polythene with packing list attached
Crated for air cargo Full-length cases, poly-wrapped and strapped, packing list attached to the case.
Packing labels for Monel 400 and Alloy 600 plates showing type, size, heat number and weights
Labelled to heat number SB-127 UNS N04400 and SB-168 UNS N06600, each case carrying type, size, heat number, net and gross weight.

Case Study — Alloy 602 CA Against a 20-Day Deadline

A client came to us with an urgent requirement for Alloy 602 CA and twenty days to work with. We sourced 8 mm VDM Alloy 602 CA (2.4633 / UNS N06025) in the hot-rolled, annealed and scaled condition, brought it in by air cargo against the mill’s EN 10204 3.1 certificate, cut it to the sizes required and delivered complete in sixteen days — four days inside the deadline.
