In a high-pressure chemical processing plant, the failure of heat exchanger tubes due to creep and corrosion forced unexpected shutdowns and costly repairs. The breakthrough came with the adoption of Nimonic 263 Sheets (UNS N07263), a nickel-cobalt-based superalloy designed for extended high-temperature operation and resistance against oxidation and sulfidation. This upgrade stabilized plant operations and minimized unplanned downtime, providing peace of mind in increasingly demanding environments.

Applications & Benefits
Why this grade
Nimonic 263 is the one grade in the range designed to be welded. Its aluminium plus titanium content is deliberately held below that of 105 and 115, so a fabricated assembly can be aged without cracking while still carrying useful strength to about 900°C. That is why combustion liners, transition pieces, casings and exhaust rings — anything built up from sheet and welded — are specified in 263 rather than in a stronger grade.
- Chemical Processing: Heat exchangers, reactor tubes, and high-temperature piping resisting sulfidation and oxidation.
- Oil & Gas: Gas turbine combustors, reformer internals, and furnace components handling extreme thermal loads.
- Marine: Turbine blades and marine engine parts exposed to aggressive thermal cycling.
- Pharma: High-purity reaction vessels and sterilization equipment needing corrosion resistance and strength.
- Power Generation: Gas turbine rotors, combustors, and exhaust systems requiring cyclic oxidation resistance and fatigue strength.
- Hardware & OEM: Stock for high-temperature fasteners, precision blanks for fabrications, and repairs.
