Inconel 690 Tube Supplier, Stockist and Exporter

Aurico Alloys LLP supplies inconel 690 tube (N06690, Werkstoff 2.4642) from ready stock in Mumbai, to customers across India and in more than 40 export markets.

Tube is specified by outside diameter and wall thickness rather than nominal bore, which makes it the form of choice for heat exchangers, instrumentation and any assembly where the fit into a tubesheet or fitting is what governs.

Inconel 690 carries nearly twice the chromium of alloy 600, which is why it replaced it for nuclear steam-generator tubing.

Chemical Composition

Nickel 58% minimum with an unusually high 27-31% chromium and 7-11% iron. The chromium level is what drives its resistance to oxidising acids and high-temperature corrosion.

Mechanical and Physical Properties

Annealed tensile strength around 590-760 MPa. Very high resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in pure and caustic water, plus excellent nitric and mixed-acid resistance.

Industry Applications

Why this grade

Inconel 690 is the high-chromium modification of 600, at 27-31% chromium against 600's 14-17%, with nickel down to around 58%. It was developed specifically to resist the stress-corrosion cracking that affected 600 in nuclear steam generators, and is generally regarded as immune to it. That chromium also gives it strong resistance in highly oxidising environments.

Where inconel 690 tube is specified
IndustryTypical use
NuclearSteam-generator tubing, reactor internals and reprocessing equipment.
Chemical processingNitric and mixed-acid service, and nitric-hydrofluoric pickling.
Glass manufacturingForehearths, stirrers and glass-contact hardware.
Power generationCoal gasification and high-sulphur combustion equipment.
Waste treatmentIncineration hardware exposed to oxidising ash.

Testing and Certification

Every consignment ships with an EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate stating heat number, chemical analysis and mechanical properties. Depending on the specification we can add positive material identification, ultrasonic and dye-penetrant testing, intergranular corrosion testing to ASTM G28 or A262, hydrostatic testing, and third-party inspection release from Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas, SGS or TUV.

Aurico Alloys LLP operates an ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, and can certify material to NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for sour service where the grade permits.
