Alloy 330 (UNS N08330, ASTM B536) and 800 (N08800, ASTM B409) Foil: Robust High-Temperature Solutions

In a Southeast Asian petrochemical furnace, standard 310 stainless hangers carburized and collapsed at 1050°C, contaminating batches and halting operations for months. Alloy 330 (UNS N08330, ASTM B536) and 800 (N08800, ASTM B409) foils excel in such environments with superior scaling resistance.

Specifications & Standards

Alloy 330 foil conforms to ASTM B536 (plate/sheet), AMS 5716, DIN 1.4886 for carburizing to 1100°C. Incoloy 800 meets ASTM B409 (sheet), ASME SB409, DIN 1.4876 for nitriding atmospheres.

Both undergo ASTM G28 corrosion, E8 mechanical testing, supporting NACE compliance for chemical exports.

Product Forms & Availability

Foils 0.01-0.5 mm thick, widths to 1200 mm, annealed per ASTM tolerances. 330 for mesh belts, 800 for heater elements.

Mumbai stocks offer slitting for industrial fabricators.

Mechanical & Physical Properties

330: UTS 550 MPa min, yield 205 MPa, 30% EL, density 8.0 g/cm³, oxid resist to 1100°C. 800: UTS 520 MPa, yield 205 MPa, 30% EL.

CTE 17 µm/m·°C for 800, excellent creep rupture.

Why this grade

Alloy 330 is a 35% nickel, 19% chromium alloy carrying about 1.2% silicon, and the silicon is the point — it confers the carburisation and thermal-shock resistance that 800 lacks. That makes it the furnace-hardware grade: radiant tubes, retorts, muffles and heat-treatment fixtures cycling to around 1150°C.
