Hastelloy® C276

Aurico Alloys LLP supplies Hastelloy® C276 as sheet, plate, foil and round bar, from Mumbai, India, with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates.

Hastelloy® C-276 (UNS N10276, W.Nr. 2.4819) is the nickel–chromium–molybdenum workhorse of the family: chromium 14.5-16.5%, molybdenum 15-17% and tungsten 3.0-4.5%. The chromium handles oxidising conditions and the molybdenum reducing ones, which is why it is the grade specified when the service is mixed, cyclic, or not fully characterised.

Key Properties

Chromium 14.5-16.5% with molybdenum 15-17% and tungsten 3.0-4.5% — resistance in oxidising and reducing conditions from one alloy.
Carbon 0.010% maximum, which is what lets it be welded without a post-weld solution anneal.
Chlorides, wet chlorine, hypochlorite and mixed acids are its usual services.
C-22 carries more chromium and less molybdenum; C-2000 takes the higher of each and adds copper.

C-276 has useful resistance up to 10% sulphuric acid at boiling and at all concentrations to about 80 °C, and it is the exception Special Metals names when warning that wet chlorine is very corrosive to its nickel alloys – but in dilute sulphuric acid Special Metals ranks Incoloy 825 ahead of it.
