Stellite® 12 wire (UNS R30012) is a higher-carbide hardfacing filler for depositing a wear-resistant cutting or sliding surface by TIG, MIG or oxy-acetylene welding. Its extra tungsten and carbon give a harder, more abrasion-resistant deposit than Stellite 6 - about 45–51 HRC held to 700 °C - so it is chosen where the overlay must take low-angle erosion and severe sliding wear, such as edges and vanes.
