Haynes® 25
Haynes® 25, also known as L-605, is a cobalt-chromium-tungsten-nickel alloy with sulfidation and galling resistance that suits turbine combustion liners, blades and downhole tooling. The same composition is supplied to implant specifications under ISO 5832-5 and ASTM F90.
Key Properties
- Cobalt base with chromium 19-21% and nickel 9-11%, not a nickel alloy.
- Tungsten 14-16% is the solid-solution strengthener and the reason for its galling and wear resistance.
- Carbon 0.05-0.15%, a range with a minimum, carrying carbide strengthening at temperature.
- AMS 5537 for sheet, strip and plate; AMS 5759 for bar. The same composition is supplied to implant specifications as ASTM F90.
Applications
- Gas turbine combustion liners and blades
- Downhole tooling and wear surfaces
- Bearings and bushings at temperature
- Surgical implants to ASTM F90
