Haynes® 214
Haynes® 214 carries about 4.5% aluminium, so the protective scale it forms in service is alumina rather than chromia. That is what separates it from the chromia-forming nickel-chromium alloys and gives it its oxidation resistance at the top of the temperature range, in furnace fixtures and honeycomb seals.
Key Properties
- Aluminium 4.5% nominal. That is what makes the protective scale alumina rather than chromia, and it is the whole reason to choose this grade.
- Nickel 75% nominal with chromium 16% nominal — Haynes publishes a nominal composition for this alloy rather than limits.
- Oxidation resistance above the range where the chromia-forming alloys begin to lose their scale.
- No ASTM standard is published. The specification table below records mill for both flat product and bar.
Applications
- Furnace fixtures, muffles and retorts
- Honeycomb seals in gas turbines
- Heat-treatment baskets and trays
- Combustion hardware at extreme temperature
